20th and 21rst century Coins of the

Kingdom of Araucania and Patagonia

 

Prince Philippe authorized the production of coins-of-tradition by Serge Huard of Montreal, Canada. The obverse bears the portait of Prince Philippe d'Araucanie and the reverse changed with each year's issue.

 

 

 

 

 

 

here the 1989 issue which commémorates the first visite of Prince Philippe in Chile and Argentina

 

 

 

 

 

 

Illustrated here is the 1990 issue which bears on its reverse the image of the Entrecasteaux, the French warship that the anchored off the araucanian coast during the battles of Orelie-Antoine de Tounens in his Kingdom in 1869.

 

 

 

 

 

 

here the 1991 issue which shows the flag of the Kingdom of Araucania and Patagonia

 

 

 

 

 

 

here the 1992 issue which shows the head of Lonko Quilapan and which commemorates the 500 years struggle of the Mapuche People agains their oppressors

 

 

 

 

 

 

Between 1994 and 2000 several editions of coins of tradions and sovereigns have been issued by :

Serge Huard

 

 

Since 2000 the Royal House is editing coins in order to commemorate important dates of the Kingdom, the Royal House and the Mapuche history

 

 

In 2007 a new coin was edited in order to commemorate the 450th anniversary of the death of the Toqui Leftraru in the battle of Mataquito.

 

 

The front part of this coin shows the effigie of the Toki Leftraru

with the caption above:

"450 ANIVERSARION DE LA MUERTE DEL TOQUI" and below "LEFTRARU"

and the dates 1557 - 2007

The reverse pattern is based on the traditional Araucanian coins with the value 500 Pesos and the date 2007

 

 

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Kingdom of Araucania and Patagonia seven coins were issued in the tradition of the previous coins editions of the Kingdom.

The front part of the first coin shows the effigies of Kings Orelie Anthony I. and Prince Philippe founder and current holder of the Throne with the caption above:

"150 Años Reino de Araucania y Patagonia" and below "Rey Orllie-Antoine 1er.

It is demonstrating the continuity of the royal lineage.

The reverse pattern is based on the traditional Araucanian coins with the value 500 Pesos

 

 

 

The face of the second coin shows the effigy of the founder of the Kingdom with the caption above:

"150 Anos Reino de Araucania y Patagonia" and below "Rey Orllie-Antoine 1er"

It recalls the same pattern of the commemorative Medal as well as of the series of the commemorative stamps.

The reverse is identical to the first coin.

 

 

 

The face of the third coin shows the effigy of the second King Achille 1er who reigned from 1878 to 1902 with the caption above:

"150 Anos Reino de Araucania y Patagonia" and below "Rey Achille 1er"

The reverse is identical to the first coin.

 

 

 

The face of the fourth coin shows the effigy of the third King Antoine II who reigned from 1902 to 1903 with the caption above:

"150 Anos Reino de Araucania y Patagonia" and below "Rey Antoine II"

The reverse is identical to the first coin.

 

 

 

The face of the fifth coin shows the effigy of the Quenn Laure-Thérèse who reigned from 1903 to 1916 with the caption above:

"150 Anos Reino de Araucania y Patagonia" and below "Reina Laure-Thérèse"

The reverse is identical to the first coin.

 

 

 

The face of the sixth coin shows the effigy of the fifth King Antoine III who reigned from 1916 to 1951 with the caption above:

"150 Anos Reino de Araucania y Patagonia" and below "Rey Antoine III"

The reverse is identical to the first coin.

 

 

 

The face of the seventh coin shows the effigy of the sixth King Philippe 1er who reigns since 1951 with the caption above:

"150 Anos Reino de Araucania y Patagonia" and below "Rey Philippe 1er"

The reverse is identical to the first coin.

 

 

 

 

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Reign of Philippe of Araucania and Patagonia a new coin is issued in the tradition of the previous coins editions of the Kingdom.

The front part of this coin shows the effigie of Prince Philippe

with the caption above:

"Philippe Rey de Araucania y Patagonia" and below "Jubileo de Diamante"

The reverse pattern is based on the traditional Araucanian coins with the value 500 Pesos

 

 

 

For the 200th Anniversary of Guillermo Frick which happens on July 15 2013, a new coin of 500 pesos is issued.

The obverse shows the bust of Guillermo Frick.

The caption above is:

"COMPOSITOR DEL HIMNO NACIONAL" and below "GUILLERMO FRICK with the datas 1813 - 1905"

The reverse pattern is based on the traditional Araucanian coins with value 500 pesos and the year 2013
